We Shall Overcome: a gospel song which become a protest song and a key anthem of the Civil Rights Movement. The song is most commonly attributed as being lyrically descended from "I'll Overcome Some Day", a hymn by Charles Albert Tindley that was first published in 1900.
The Whips shows the tool the slave owners use for discipline the slaves.

The paw represents the dogs that chases slaves when they're escaping to gain freedom.

This heart represents the suppressed slaves and need to highlight the importance of them.

The broken shackles shows that, throughout the recent years, the blacks has overcome the difficulties and continuously strive to overcome the restrictions for many years. There are still problems that the the black community face even if we are "free".

In this piece, I wanted to create emphasis and highlight the importance of the songs history and the history of slaves in the 1900's.
